X-Men: Dark Phoenix director Simon Kinberg has landed a series commitment with Apple for an untitled sci-fi series.
Simon Kinberg has been a productive creative source for Fox, having written four entries in its X-Men film franchise, the last of which, Dark Phoenix, serves as his directorial debut – currently in post-production. However, it appears that Kinberg just made a deal to join an already-impressive lineup of creative talent for the streaming content platform of tech giant Apple.
Apple has given Kinberg a 10-episode straight-to-series commitment for an untitled sci-fi series, according to Deadline. While details on the project – set to be co-written by Kinberg and David Weil – are scarce, it is being described as “large, large budget,” as well as “ambitious” and “character driven.” With casting reportedly underway as we speak, its globally-shooting production is being targeted for the summer.
